The French based Ensemble Franz Schubert was founded in 1998, with the aim of performing and enhancing the String Quintet repertoire with two cello instrumentation (as opposed to the more common two viola instrumentation). Since its debut tour in 1999 through France, the ensemble has performed in Switzerland and South Korea. It is the ensemble in residence at the music festival, “Musique à Flavigny”, which, since its inception in 2002, has performed with artists such as pianist Peter Waters and the singer Karen Vourc‘h.
